Brian Pendleton


Major Brian Pendleton, 1601/1602 - 1681, of an ancient and wealthy family of Lancastershire, England. Was at Watertown, Mass 1634. Settled at and owned land at Sudbury, 1638 - later, Ipswich, Mass., Portsmouth, H.H. and Saco, Maine; Captain, surveyor, Treasurer, Portsmouth - Major at Saco, 1668 - Portsmouth, 1652 - 54; Deputy Governor, Province of Maine, under King Charles II. First Councillor, associated justice, York Co; Took over the subjugation of Maine to Mass. Bay Colony; Maj in what was later denominated "A. & H. A. Co."
