The First DeVan

In the beginning there was Talcott Davern.

Old Talcott (b: 1768 in Fairfield, CT) was the first in
our family to have the DeVan name when he changed his name from
"Davern" to "Devan". He migrated west from Fairfield and lived in
Oneida and Madison Counties of NY before moving to Ohio.

Why would Talcott change his name?

Before Talcott there was John Davern and Lois Knapp.

John and Lois were the parents of Talcott and several other children
